History of RMC Production in the World

History of RMC Production in the World

One of the materials that is frequently employed in the construction sector is concrete.  Traditionally, concrete is prepared on site by mixing cement, sand, gravel, and water in the right proportion.  This, however, was time consuming, added cost, and laborious.  In an effort to meet these challenges ready-mix concrete (RMC) was introduced.

If you want your buildings and structures to last long, use the best concrete.  Today, ready-mix concrete is the most popular material used in the construction industry, especially for big structures, tunnels, roads, dams, etc. One of the top suppliers of ready-mixed concrete is SD Conmix, is the most reliable and trusted supplier for RMC. They are well known for their timely and value-added services.  Ready-mix concrete has a history of its own.

History of RMC

Sources suggest that In 1913, the first load of ready-mix concrete was delivered in Baltimore.  A dump truck was used to transport this concrete from a central mixing plant to the construction site. With three sets of concrete locks that had walls up to 60 feet thick at the base and floors up to 20 feet thick, the Panama Canal opened in 1914. Over the ensuing years, technology improved and ready mixed concrete was being delivered to at least 25 cities across the United States.  Additionally, some of these companies offered centrally mixed concrete that was delivered by dump trucks.  By 1923 two of the western paving companies’ concrete plants in Oklahoma City each produced up to 1000 cubic yards of concrete a day.

Later, there were many developments in the history of RMC. As the developments carried on, the manufacturers were also rapidly improving concrete production equipment. So, here we are with ready mix concrete which is a product available at your convenience and is replacing traditional site mixed concrete, especially in major metropolitan cities and some towns.

Today, ready-mix concrete as a product is continuously evolving and moving forward by not only replacing traditional site mix concrete but also giving a lot of value addition to the construction industry by offering new generation special green concrete (eco-friendly concrete) products through continuous innovation.

The RMC sector is observing a profound shift in consumer thinking.  A large number of concrete users are migrating to ready-mixed concrete from traditional concrete. SD Conmix is the name that strikes us when we mention ready-mix concrete. They are the most trusted and reliable RMC suppliers.
