Solid Concrete Blocks

Solid Concrete Block

Solid concrete block has high compressive durability in terms of strength. It is impervious to the effects of weathering and abrasion. Solid blocks can be modelled into various shapes and sizes. Not only do they provide greater stability but they also withstand temperatures that soar as high as 400 degree Celsius. There are no holes or openings in solid blocks. Also, the gaps found in solid concrete blocks do not amount to more than 20% of the total cross-sectional area.

Solid blocks are heavy in weight and are made up of lean mixes. Owing to their elemental composition, solid concrete blocks are comparatively easy to manufacture. One of the minus points of these blocks is they are bad thermal insulators. Concrete blocks consume a considerable amount of resources in order for them to be manufactured and hence they are costly and not cost-efficient.

The usual or typical size of this type of solid block is 450mm * 250mm * 150 mm.  Solid blocks are used in the construction of bridges and dams. These blocks are 60% solid and are high-density materials. They have sharp corners which are positioned at right angles to each other.
